Summit Agro is a company of the Sumitomo Corporation Group engaged exclusively in the research, production and commercialization of plant protection products.
Sumitomo’s history dates back to the 17th century, when Masatomo Sumitomo (1585-1652) opened a book and medicine shop in Kyoto. Sumitomo´s founding philosophy was the basis of its business principles, which pursue integrity and sound management.
In its origins, the main business was in the copper mining industry.
Later on, it engaged in several activities, including finance, insurance, iron, steel, real estate, and chemicals, among others.
At present, it is one of the largest business groups in Japan.
Sumitomo Corporation started its activities back in 1919 and started to expand internationally as from 1960, boosted by the steel industry and chemical products.
Today, 875 companies constitute the heart of the corporation, with 24 offices in Japan and 116 offices in 66 countries.
The number of employees in the company amounts to 66,800 worldwide.
